Twisted Root Burger Co., Featured on Guy Fieri’s “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives,” to Open First Florida Location in Winter Park
WINTER PARK, Fla. (October 28, 2019) – Twisted Root Burger Co. is setting down, well, roots, in Florida. With made-to-order burgers, a selection of exotic meats, and a come-as-you-are environment with tons of personality, the Texas-based fast-casual gourmet burger chain featured on Guy Fieri’s “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” is scheduled to open its first Florida franchise location and 17th U.S. outpost at The Grove at Winter Park next month on November 12.
What differentiates a Twisted Root burger? For starters, half-pound, fresh-ground patties. That’s TWICE the size of burgers sold at comparable burger spots. Then, add freshly-prepared toppings, out-of-the-oven buns from local bakeries, custom-made condiments and pickles. But wait, there’s more: in addition to beef, buffalo, wagyu, turkey, chicken and vegan burgers on the daily menu, a rotating selection of exotic meats, including elk, ostrich, rabbit, camel, venison, boar and duck, await the adventurous. Mix in a full bar for the grown-ups (spiked milkshakes!) and other tasty menu items, and you’ve got a burger experience unlike any other in Central Florida.
Twisted Root offers a delectable menu of burgers, fries, salads and custom custard frozen shakes, all upgraded to tasty perfection. Among the 12 (and counting) custom burgers are such standouts as the Western (pepper jack, bacon, fried onion strings and jalapeños), the Kevin Bacon (three pieces of bacon and Danish blue cheese), and the Freshman 15 (smashed fries, melted cheddar, fried egg and bacon. The Vegabond (house-made chickpea, black bean, brown rice and quinoa burger with sliced avocado, pickled red onions and sriracha) and Happy Pilgrim (turkey meat, goat cheese, kale pesto and mixed greens) are popular alternatives to bovine meats; any burger can top one of three freshly-made salads at an additional charge.
Fry heaven awaits with Twisted Root’s unusual selection, from hand-cut potato chips and onion strings to Quincy’s fried pickles, flash-fried-green beans n’ carrots, and loaded “treat yo’ self” fries (topped with melted cheese, jalapenos and bacon with a side of peppercorn ranch). A children’s menu is also available, and Twisted Root’s specialty burger- and shake-of the-month always keep the flavor options poppin’!
Speaking of unique flavors, such melt-in-your-mouth shake flavors like Bananas Foster, Peanut Butter and Chocolate Chunk Brownie, and Campfire S’mores join perennial favorites chocolate, strawberry and vanilla. Guests ages 21 and up can feel like kids again with Oreo & Amaretto, and Banana & Baileys.
Twisted Root Burger Co.’s interior embraces a hip and quirky atmosphere while maintaining both current pop culture references along with favorite classic throwbacks. The 4,000-square-foot Central Florida location features seating for 187 and a full-service, fully-stocked bar (adults only). Reservations are available for parties of 10 or more, space available. Free WiFi is available throughout the building. Online ordering is available and delivery services are planned.
“We were looking for a dynamic and vibrant family-friendly location for our first-in-market Florida restaurant, and the Grove at Winter Park, with proximity to Full Sail, UCF and area residents, is a perfect fit,” said Glenn Pilson, Twisted Root’s franchisee in Central Florida. “We can’t wait to meet our new neighbors and start serving our famous burgers with a twist to them.”
Regular operating hours are Sunday–Thursday, 11 AM to 11 PM and Friday-Saturday, 11A to 12 Midnight. The address is the Grove at Winter Park, 4270 Aloma Ave., Winter Park, FL 32792, near the intersection of Aloma Avenue and Howell Branch Road. About Twisted Root Burger Co.
Way back before “gourmet burgers” were a thing, Chefs Jason Boso & Quincy Hart decided to build a restaurant around half-pound, fresh ground burgers with a menu that allowed customers to build their own burgers with a list of crazy and inventive toppings. The two met in culinary school, following jobs in stock brokerage and telephone line repair. After paying their dues working the line at four- and five-star hotels and steakhouses, Jason and Quincy opened Twisted Root Burger Co. in the Deep Ellum neighborhood of Dallas, Texas in 2006. Twisted Root appeared on the second season of “Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives” with Guy Fieri (2009) and suddenly, Twisted Root was a dining destination in Dallas. While Twisted Root Burger Co. has seen incredible growth – even appearing a second time on Guy Fieri’s show in 2019 – Jason and Quincy have stuck to their roots and their senses of humor, using a hands-on approach to delivering high-quality fresh food in a casual atmosphere.
