Barton Malow’s Central Florida Office Plans a Week of Community Service To Benefit 10 Central Florida Nonprofits

Part of the sixth annual national Community Week organized by the Barton Malow Foundation

Orlando, Fla. (July 18, 2019) – The 200-plus employees in Barton Malow’s Orlando office will join together the week of August 5-9 to serve those in Central Florida who are food insecure, homeless, developmentally disabled, young and disadvantaged, and simply in need. It is part of the national contracting firm’s annual Community Week that gives employees and their families the opportunity to spend a day helping others in communities where they live, work and play. Last year, 600 volunteers took part in 60 different community opportunities across 11 states and two countries.

The week of service is organized each year by the Barton Malow Foundation. Established in 1954, the Foundation was created in alignment with the company’s core purpose to build people, projects and communities. “Barton Malow’s commitment to community service is unmatched in the industry,” said Foundation Manager Dawn Lyman. “It starts at the top and is infused into all that we do as individuals and as a team of builders.” Barton Malow Company and Foundation giving will top $1.5 million this fiscal year.

This year, Barton Malow’s Orlando employees will be volunteering with 10 Central Florida non-profit organizations. They include:

  • Boys & Girls Club Cocoa
  • Boys & Girls Club Orlando
  • Give Kids the World
  • Habitat for Humanity Seminole County
  • Mary and Martha House
  • Palm Terrace Elementary School in Volusia County
  • Quest, Inc.
  • Ronald McDonald House at Nemours Children’s Hospital
  • Ronald McDonald House Orlando
  • Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida

Activities during the week will include cleaning up the Boys & Girls Club Orlando to get it organized and ready for the first day of school, hosting an ice cream social for the kids at Quest’s Camp Thunderbird, sorting and packing food at Second Harvest Food Bank, and helping clean and ready rooms for new families at Mary and Martha House that provides emergency and transitional housing and support services to abused and homeless women and their dependent children.

“For 95 years, Barton Malow has been committed to its core purpose of ‘Building with the American Spirit: People, Projects and Communities’,” said Senior Vice President Dave Price, who oversees Barton Malow’s southeast operations. “Community service is a fundamental part of this purpose. I am so proud of our Central Florida employees who share the desire to make it a priority to serve our neighbors, friends, and children in need.”
